Left Over

After everything else, this is what’s Left.* This, such as it is, is the Song of the Month project for 2008. This is what happens when you have a tiny shred of talent, a little free time, and some fun playing some favorite songs. That’s all it’s supposed to be.
These songs were recorded roughly, wobbly and hastily in various bedrooms in 2007 and 2008. Some were actually recorded in a garage or two. At least one was recorded in a rainstorm. Another during some construction outside. The sound quality is what you might expect. Everything was recorded in one take, directly into the MacBook. GarageBand and iTunes handled the rest. It was all just done for fun, so don’t be upset if I butchered a favorite song of yours.

You’re welcome to grab the sample songs or get the zip of the whole thing. If you want a fancy jewel case insert, you can always just make a playlist in iTunes, use the print feature, choose the mosaic setting. Or you could download the pdfs of the insert, but they may print out a tiny bit smaller than they should, at least they did for me. This is a green release--no trees killed for envelopes, no fossil fuels burned shipping it to you. Clicky-click and enjoy!

Cheers!

Love Is A Sign (The Go-Betweens)
That’s Fantastic, Mother Church (Robyn Hitchcock)
A Girl In Port (Okkervil River)
Handle With Care (The Traveling Wilburys)
It’s Not My Birthday (They Might Be Giants)
A Day In The Life (The Beatles)
Career Opportunities (The Clash)
You Woke Up My Neighborhood (Billy Bragg)
Vibrating (Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians)
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel)
The Ballad Of Love And Hate (The Avett Brothers)
Tonight (The Soft Boys)
Heaven (Talking Heads)

x4

I found these quadcam pix on the iPhone. I think Gabe took them. They look kinda cool, but my room seems messy and that stool looks so uncomfortable.

One by one we all went back to Mars

I still think Airscape may be the prettiest song yet.
And bento box lunches are cool too.

Cake or death? That's a pretty easy question. Anyone could answer that.

I remember how much fun it is to play guitar.

Woke up already tired.

On the list of foods I can eat

Certain pies.
I will eat all the pies at this restaurant. I will eat more pies than I should. Other pie eaters may die.
Or is that giraffes?
No, I won't actually eat giraffes. Or leaves. Pies, yes.
