Goink Goink Goink
Some people have been telling me that the fingernail of the poor broken finger will fall off at some point and there will be a new one underneath.
I have to say, I'm not really comfortable with that idea. Fingernail loss is one of those things that really creeps me out.
Progress report: to the touch it's still very numb in places and very tender in others. However, I can bend the finger quite well, in fact, it feels good to bend and stretch it out because sometimes it tightens up. Somebody else told me that as the feeling returns it will get very tingly and quite painful.
Some people are not helpful.
But it seems to be progressing nicely, and I can play guitar if i tuck it in and strum, so that's a plus. Although too much wiggling around of the hand for any activity makes it ache a bit later, and the cold air of winter (it finally arrived here) does it no favors either.
But I'll be alright in the end, don't worry.

You weren't worried, were you?
I really am a big baby, huh?

DUDE! It's freaky as hell losing your fingernail! I slammed my thumb in a car door once and the thumbnail did indeed fall off. And it was all wrinkly and shit underneath. And then it finally grew back.
But to this day, the nail is a little flattened at its centre rather than being a perfect curve. (Which I have to assume is a permanent defect.) Fun!
