I Like Your Twisted Point of View, Mike

Things I wish I would never see again:
1. Vehicles with Dale Earnhardt memorial stickers on them. His estate does not want your truck to be his rolling gravestone. Scrape that sticker off NOW!
2. Calvin pissing on anything. I know I've mentioned this before, but damn!, those things make me SOOOOO mad!
3. People who think that when cars are making left turns from opposite directions of an intersection they must criss-cross like a do-si-do. OK, that sentence is very poorly contructed but you know what I mean. Turn PAST each other, people, not AROUND! You don't have to do it your way! It's a BAD IDEA!
4. Those Amish-style beards on young, non-Amish men...oh! and flavor-saver soulpatches. HATE HATE HATE THEM!

Oh, there's lots more things that infuriate me in this world, but I'm not going to mention them all, as I am, as usual, striving to maintain a positive outlook on life.

Anyone want a hot toddy?

Plug Plug Plug

OK, sorry, plug time.

The Lucky link has the Songs of the Month so far and the Eyebrows link has a couple more. Also the Gloop one has a new one.

Does any of this make sense? Sure!

It's Necessary That I Find Out What Makes Your Heart Sing

A little too early this morning

Gabe: I win!
Me: What? What do you win?
Gabe: Every day I play a game to see if I can get all ready for school by 7! And I win!
Me: Gah...That's, um, a good game, I guess. ...Actually I'm very proud of you that you get yourself up, dressed and fed every day. You're an excellent boy!
Sam: Poppa, can I ask you a question?
Me: Um, sure, Sam, is it about Star Wars?
Sam: Yes!
Me: OK...go ahead...
Sam: OK, if IG-88 uses his buzzsaw hand on one side and his gun on the other, and Bossk and Dengar each have super-blasters and they got in a fight with the Jedi, who would win?
Me: Um...
Sam: Did you know Boba Fett got spit out of the Sarlacc after the movie and Dengar came and took care of him?
Me: Wow, Sam, you are a very knowledgeable little man!

Don't Think Twice, It's Alright

No snow, no fog! So the kids actually have to go to school today!

EDIT: This is what the men do when they don't have school.

I swear there was something profound or really fuuny I was gonna mention, and I was sure I'd remember it!

Alas, 'tis not to be...

Well, we did have an interesting conversation about birds this morning, me and the men.

Sam: Hey! There's birds on the deck!
Me: Oh? Birds? What kind? Big black crows? Thieving magpies? Hideous vultures?
Sam: No...just fat little birds.
Me: Oh.
Gabe: They're hummingbirds!
Me: Nuh-uh! Hummingbirds only eat nectar from certain pretty flowers.
Gabe: What do they do in the winter?
Me: They just die, I guess.
Gabe: They hibernate!
Me: Birds don't hibernate.
Sam: Poppa! Birds don't die!

OK, that was pretty much it.

Boys Don't Cry

I swear to God I heard the Grant-Lee Phillips cover at Rite-Aid the other night.

A Child Caught in a Grown Up World

Heat wave here, like in the high 20s.

I am so tired.

Grimly Fiendish!

My finger is well on the mend at this point, though it has developed a new dark red facet at the base of the nail. It's shinier and streakier than the big purply blotches...and while we're discussing it, why has the white part moved so far up? Basically, my fear is that the nail is slowly turning into some sort of hideous, grizzled, animalian claw instead of the dainty, artistic long slender finger that is formerly was.
Well, at least it's still attached to my hand! Count your blessings!

Also, this post title does indeed reflect my long-standing love for Phantasmagoria.

Alert the Media!

It has snowed!
And I am letting you know!

srsly
A prime example of midwestern boneheadery? NOT plowing during a blizzard.

Magnificent Even in Repose

Except for the trains rumbling through frequently and the bitter cold on Saturday and the fact that I managed to rip off most of my right little toenail (danger to self! danger to self!) this has been a pretty relaxing few days, I hafta say. I had no idea how much I needed that. Didn't do much art or music (I did have "work" to do!), but I did do some. I know I ate too much, though! Of course, I was able to get some amount of exercise, so it's all OK, I guess.

Not My Room

Wow, this hotel is cool! Some of the rooms are in old train cars and real trains pass through at all times of the day.

Sam and Gabe would think this is cool.

Why Why Why?

Just now, Sam asked, "Who invented telemarketers?"
My reply: "The devil, I think."
Sam, "Why? To entertain hisself? Why would he do that?"

Sammy Star Wars

(Like Mike TV from Willy Wonka)

Sammy is officially obsessed. He spends hours looking at the Lego website (I think he has a wishlist even!), watches the movies, pores over his encyclopedia, and asks incessant highly technical theoretical questions about the EU (I believe that's the correct term?).

He drew this yesterday, and of course, it's two TIE fighters, a Star Destroyer, and an X-Wing.

I'll start to worry if he starts collecting graphic novels.

PS If I were, say, unbelievably rude and inconsiderate to anyone in the last 24 hours, all I can say is that I humbly and completely apologize, FWIW. All affected parties please contact my legal department for a full and fair financial settlement.

Goink Goink Goink

Some people have been telling me that the fingernail of the poor broken finger will fall off at some point and there will be a new one underneath.
I have to say, I'm not really comfortable with that idea. Fingernail loss is one of those things that really creeps me out.
Progress report: to the touch it's still very numb in places and very tender in others. However, I can bend the finger quite well, in fact, it feels good to bend and stretch it out because sometimes it tightens up. Somebody else told me that as the feeling returns it will get very tingly and quite painful.

Some people are not helpful.

But it seems to be progressing nicely, and I can play guitar if i tuck it in and strum, so that's a plus. Although too much wiggling around of the hand for any activity makes it ache a bit later, and the cold air of winter (it finally arrived here) does it no favors either.

But I'll be alright in the end, don't worry.

You weren't worried, were you?

I really am a big baby, huh?
