"A patch of solid ice" is not, in my opinion, redundant
It is very slippery, though.

also, 'patch of solid ice' does not at first seem redundant to me, either.
You're not too old fer prolly. No one's too old fer that.
But solid ice isn't redundant... it's tautological.
