Nothing we've actually seen has been mapped or outlined
Well, new-ish. New to me.
1. Okkervil River, The Stand Ins
Will Sheff and his mood swings swing toward "fun," clever songs, a la The Stage Names, to which this album is a followup. I know, it came out a few months ago, but it's grand, I say, grand. Of the few albums I've purchased this fall, this is my favorite.
2. Jenny Lewis, Acid Tongue
No matter what anybody says, I like the duet with Elvis Costello.
3. James, Hey Ma
Weird. The old early 90s lineup, back for more after their farewell tour a few years ago. It's OK. I still like it when Tim warbles. Larry back on guitar is great! No more furniture for him?
4. The Decemberists, Always The Bridesmaid singles series
I like these songs a lot, but I can't help wondering what the new album will sound like if these don't fit it? Supposedly it's a long, musical sort of thing, with enchanted forests and hopefully, lots of prog-folk goodness!
